Xi’an – Terracotta warriors and more

January 6, 2015

The city of Xi’an in China is famous for the expansive feat that is the Terracotta warriors, but there is so much more that the city has to offer. During my recent trip to China I visited Beijing, Xi’an and Dalian, and Xi’an was by far my favorite city of the trip. It’s easy to spend a couple of days wandering the streets of the old city, eating the variety of food and trekking to the slightly further sites outside of the city walls. Check out the pics below!

Riding bikes around the city wall

What a joyful experience it was to ride bikes along the city wall of Xi’an’s old city. The city is composed of the old city, which is in the center of the town, and the new city, which surrounds the old city, and is separated by the city wall. The views from the approximately 2 hour long bike ride (or less, depending on how fast you bike!) along the wall are breathtaking.

Muslim Quarter

The Muslim Quarter is an interesting result of Xi’an’s unique place in history as the start of the ancient silk road. Stop by for amazing food that is a definitely influenced by its blended history.
